How many teams make the WNBA playoffs?

In the WNBA, 8 out of the 12 teams make the playoffs each season.  

Playoff Format (as of 2024):  

1. Seeding:  

   - The top 4 teams are seeded based on their regular-season records.  

   - The next 4 teams qualify regardless of conference (the WNBA no longer uses conferences for playoff seeding).  

2. Playoff Rounds:  

   - First Round (Best-of-3):  

     - No. 1 seed vs. No. 8 seed  

     - No. 2 seed vs. No. 7 seed  

     - No. 3 seed vs. No. 6 seed  

     - No. 4 seed vs. No. 5 seed  

   - Semifinals (Best-of-5): Winners advance.  

   - WNBA Finals (Best-of-5): Championship round.
